Does Medicare cover cancer?

Radiation Therapy Coverage

Medicare Part A covers radiation therapy for hospital inpatients. Medicare Part B covers this therapy for outpatients or patients in freestanding clinics. As an inpatient, you are responsible for the Medicare deductible ($1,484 in 2021) plus your copayment which will typically range between 0-20% of the services billed once your deductible is met. Another item to note is your doctor or other health care provider may recommend you get services more often than Medicare covers. Or, they may recommend services that Medicare doesn’t cover. If this happens, you may have to pay some or all of the costs.
